On Sunday, July 12, two people were killed in a North Las Vegas crash.

According to the Nevada Highway patrol the accident happened shortly before 9 p.m. A 26 year old man from North Las Vegas was driving a 2007 Toyota pickup south of Lamb Boulevard near Interstate 15, when he ran a red light at an intersection. According to witnesses he was travelling at around 100 m.p.h.

The pickup then smashed into a 2009 Honda pick up and a 2009 Ford Fusion, which then hit a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, and that car also hit the Honda. In addition a 2000 Ford Expedition was hit by debris.

The Toyota, which caused the crash ended up on the shoulder near the northbound Interstate 15 off ramp, and the driver, who was critically injured, was taken to University Medical Center.

The driver of the Honda was John Kirk Rodda, aged 52 and he died at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma. The driver of the Fusion, 34 year old Elmer Hightower Jr. also died at the scene.

In the Tahoe were a 22 year old woman and a 5 year old girl and they were both taken to UMC with serious injuries.

It is expected that the Toyota driver will be charged with disregarding a traffic signal and speeding, and depending on toxicology he may be charged with driving under the influence.
