A two vehicle accident on Saturday in the north east valley has left a young girl dead and three other people seriously injured.
According to police, the rear end collision occurred at around 3.30 p.m. near the intersection of Easy Carey Avenue and Sandy Lane.
Charles Washington, aged 70, of Pahrump was driving a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 that hit a 1993 Toyota Corolla in the rear end which was stopped in the middle of Carey when it was hit. According to the accident report, the pickup failed to reduce speed before it struck the car and Washington has now been charged with DUI-death and DUI-substantial bodily harm.
The driver of the Toyota received serious injuries as did two of the passengers in the car. They were all transported to UMC Trauma. The right rear passenger died from her injuries. The Clark County coroner’s office has not yet released the names.
A passenger in the pickup fled the scene and had not been located as of Saturday night.
The accident was the 62nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
